HIV/AIDS:

UNDP in collaboration with UNAIDS and other UN agencies is working to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and reduce its impact in Eritrea.

In addition to its contribution towards the 5 Year National Strategic Plans (1997-2001, 2003-2007) formulation process, UNDP has helped the country in building national capacity for development and implementation of HIV/AIDS programmes, mainstreaming of HIV/AIDS into the Interim – PRSP, and establishing workplace-based prevention, care and support programmes.

UNDP focal persons/trainers of HIV/AIDS conduct monthly in-house sessions on HIV/AIDS to UNDP staff. We Care, UNDP’s initiative on HIV/AIDS in the Workplace, has empowered the staff of UNDP to be committed in fighting HIV/AIDS through regular awareness sessions.

At the country level, UNDP is represented in the HIV/AIDS UN Theme Group, Technical Working Group, and the HIV/AIDS Learning Team (HALT).
