  •  Reducing maternal death in Eritrea

    In the market town of Senafe, in southern Eritrea, Fethawi Berhane has just undergone three days of painful labor and complications during childbirth that resulted in the death of her baby, despite the best efforts of a traditional birth attendant. Fethawi herself is lucky to have survived, given the unhygenenic and poorly equipped medical conditions in which she had to give birth.

  • Government of Japan supports young Eritrean women to acquire new skills for work

    The project “Skills development, employment and migration” targets vulnerable youth and empowers them with skills for work, while at the same time addressing migration issues. It is a National project managed by NUEYS in partnership with UNDP Eritrea and supported by the Governments of Norway and Japan.
