Funding and Delivery
UNDP Eritrea has two main sources of funds: UNDP core resources and non-core resources. The UNDP core resources are allocated from UNDP HQs and they are the larger part (60%) of the resources disbursed during the past 14 years. The non-core resources are funds that UNDP country office directly raises from donors and other sources at the country level and are channeled to support specific needs in the beneficiary country.
Some of the direct development partners include Government of Norway, United Kingdom, Government of Sweden, Government of Italy and the Government of Netherlands and the Global Environmental Facility. The country office continues to reach out to other partners including foundations to breach the resource gap needed to nurture development.
During the past 14 years out of the actual budget delivered (US$ 100 million) more than 50% was dedicated to support projects in the areas of recovery. The remaining resources were channeled towards Governance, Poverty Reduction, and Energy and Environment.
